Senior Safety Seminar 2008

On Wednesday March 26, 2008 the Metropolitan Police Department Fourth District (PSA 402) along with the DC Fire and EMS Department hosted a Senior Safety Seminar. The event was held at Emery Recreation Center (5701 Georgia Avenue NW WDC) and there were over 50 in attendance. Topics of discussion for the fire department were Fire Prevention Safety Tips, the DC FEMS SAVU program, Home Inspection program, and much more.

MPD had a power point presentation which included tips on Safety while you are out, Safety in your Home, Safety in your Vehicle, and Safeguarding you Identity. We concluded with a project that shocked everyone. Three of our seniors provided us with their first and last name only.

A search on the world wide web resulted in quite a bit

of personal information. It was shocking to all that were there.

MPD will be hosting a encore presentation on Saturday April 12, 2008 at Takoma Community Center (300 Van Buren Street NW) from 11am-1pm.
